Holiday

Hi, it's been a while hasn't it? Well you know life is like that sometimes, it gets busy... I have noticed that more and more now that my little bundle of insomnia is with us!

So I had this week off work (yay!) and we managed our first holiday with child in tow. Liz completely filled the car up with all sorts, very little was for the two of us of course, and we set off for Center Parcs (having already arranged the finance with the bank manager who needed to be involved for the sums of money that CP want for a chalet for 3 nights!) for some fun in the forest!

I had never been to CP before and I enjoyed it a lot. It was pricey, you can't get away from that, but it was a nice environment and I can see how if you had some older kids it would be fabulous given all the activities that were available. The staff were also pretty good with Ethan and his allergies they cooked him up some nice chicken that was free from anything he doesn't react well to.

We did take some photo's and some video's, and seeing as i had some time this week whilst Ethan was napping I have created a video of the holiday. Assuming I get this to work, it should be just below:

It is about ten mins so be warned, but I thought it was nice as often the videos just sit on the computer an no one ever sees them. The swimming (end of the video) was great and Ethan really enjoyed that, that was the only thing (along with soft play in the sports cafe) that he could really get stuck into.

Would I recommend CP to others? I think so, but it is going to cost you, and I think you need to be little more organised than we were in terms of activities and cycles and play groups / babysitting etc Eating out was not cheap but not massively over the top either. There were loads of different sports and things, and the canoeing looked pretty good. Maybe i will do a "proper" review on my next post? That might give me something to talk about? I will think, about that, in the meantime enjoy the video - it was the first time I have tried something like this so sorry if it a little rough around the edges...

JAGER BOMB

Don't worry, I am not in rant mode today :) And i did try and promise something a little more upbeat than the last super smiley episode!

I don't I am going to keep to many people reading this if it is all doom and gloom and angry rants, although i will budget for one every now and again. Interestingly if you think about how often you take the time to write things down in life, they are often rants. How many times have you written to complain about something? And how many times have you written to say how great something was? I did write to congratulate Sainsbury's the other day, as we have started online ordering and their drivers are just so friendly and helpful.. they didn't get back to me actually which was a little disappointing. I did get a reply to the rant email i sent last week though after they delivered a while load of things in my 8 - 9pm slot that had use by dates of the next day...

So anyways, i tried my first jager bomb on Friday night. I asked the bartender (well some teenager) for something small as I had just had two bottles of some very nice berry cider. Now tasty as that was, its a lot of liquid to go through to get the alcohol - which is fundamentally what I am after, and well, it just feels like the long way around...  so i was looking for something that has a little bit more kick to it, ideally a unit of alcohol for each mouthful....

Little did I know that it was made up of a fair portion of red bull... now there is a blast from the past. Takes me right back to college and those happy days where you could get three double vodka's and a can of red bull in wetherpoons for buttons. As an aside did anyone ever drink Red Devil? It was an alternative to red bull, but in many respects I thought was nicer... i know, i know, how actually likes red bull anyway? In summary, whilst there was nothing wrong with it, per se, i suspect there are plenty of other drinks out there for me.

Amazingly, despite numerous apple sours, some raspberry equivalent, some vodka jelly, some pimms, some ameretto, the cider, and vokda and lemonade and the nasty little jager slag at the end, I was feeling pretty good this weekend - i suspect the hangover fairy might have been busy elsewhere Friday night and so i escaped. That said, i did have to feed my little of bundle of joy at about 5am...

.. that also meant that i had a decent frame of mind to try and be healthy this weekend, which I have been promising myself for ages... not least since the dark day that I hit my thirties... so I ate my bran flakes (had to downgrade to Sainsbury's own which i blame on the credit crunch..) and avoided all chocolate, even resisted a free box of malteasers.. oh and they do tease running around the box acting all innocent but i know there game, just because they weigh half as much as a good chunk of a yorkie bar doesn't mean to say that they aren't bad for me...

So i ate OK, and I also managed to go for a quick jog as well, so feeling pretty good actually. Now, if people would jut stop having birthdays and bringing lorry loads of crap into the office to tempt me then I will stay focused and healthy. I might just make it through the week without scoffing down 3 packs of bourbons for breakfast
